HOHO Design frames this home around a quiet ethos they describe as shaped like jade, refined from within — a way of living that values calm, restraint and clarity. The residence was designed for a homeowner who enjoys golf and shares his daily life with his dog. He hoped for a space that felt clean and uncomplicated, a home able to gather the fragments of everyday life while giving room for shifting emotions to settle.

In the private quarters, the design becomes more streamlined. The sister’s bedroom continues the gentle tone of the main living area, using soft materials and low saturation colours to create a calm and grounded atmosphere. The brother’s room, in contrast, features darker furniture and open storage that reflect his preference for ease and a more relaxed way of living.
Distinct in character yet complementary, the two rooms together express the varied identities that shape this home.

The interior is guided by a clear and restrained palette, allowing light to move gently across the materials. The matte wall finish absorbs brightness with a soft calm, while the marble surfaces reflect a subtle sheen that creates layered transitions between warm and cool tones. Metalwork is tucked into joints and corners to refine the edges with precision, giving the layout a measured clarity. The owner’s favourite green appears discreetly in the veining of the island stone and again in the sofa textiles, adding a grounded note to the space.
At the entrance, a curved wall shifts slightly to open the view and ease the movement toward the main living area. Dark stone follows the arc of the floor to define the entry zone, creating a boundary that slows the step without extra gestures. A stone ledge is embedded into the wall, touched by a soft wash of light from above. This small release within the solid surface offers a moment of pause as one enters the home.

The living room continues the gentle shift introduced at the entrance, keeping the atmosphere intentionally low and quiet. A matte finish runs from floor to ceiling, absorbing light in a soft and steady way while visually expanding the room without clear boundaries. The furniture layout preserves generous open space, reinforcing the calm and measured character of the interior. Beneath the TV wall, a slender marble ledge appears to float above the floor. Its natural veining flows across the surface, while fine dark metal trims on both sides define a crisp horizontal line that gives the wall a lighter and more refined presence.
On the dining room’s back wall, K. Chien, the design director, created an artwork for the homeowner titled Ripples. The travertine texture rises from the bottom, intersected by irregular copper and iron lines. The composition begins with a grounded weight, then recedes inward before lifting gently upward, suggesting the slow passage of time. It becomes a quiet reflection on a life lived, expressed without the need for words.

The kitchen island is finished in Roman white marble, its deep green and brown veining unfolding like layers of an ink landscape. The stone carries a gentle sheen, giving the surface a warm presence. A softened curve is carved along the front edge to ease the volume, allowing movement and light to slip naturally along the side and extending the openness of the space with quiet grace.
The kitchen cabinetry is arranged as a clean and continuous plane, blending softly with the surrounding walls. Its lines are kept intentionally minimal, concealing appliances, storage and functions within a seamless face that serves as a calm visual backdrop. When the central cabinet is opened, the interior reveals a stone pattern that echoes the island, creating a flexible zone for both storage and display.

Moving toward the private areas, another curved wall along the corridor echoes the gesture made at the entrance. It softens the view toward the bathroom door and the bedrooms beyond, slowing the pace of movement and settling the mind as one transitions deeper into the home.
The main bedroom continues the project’s design vocabulary, with the floor shifting to warm timber. Two slim vertical elements frame the bed subtly, allowing light to travel along their edges and creating an atmosphere that feels steady and gently enclosed. Behind the headboard, a walk-in wardrobe forms a looped circulation path that gathers all functions within it. The cabinetry is recessed into the walls and finished with a fine textured surface, keeping storage absorbed into the architecture and preserving the clarity of the room.

HOHO Design follows a principle of subtraction, refining the home to a precise density after removing what is unnecessary. This allows daily life to settle naturally and gives the essence of living a quiet place to speak. In this environment, there is little need for adjustment. One simply arrives, and life unfolds at its own unhurried pace.
