遠離仁愛路的車水馬龍，循著樹影彎入靜謐的巷弄，喧囂便如退潮般悄然散去。在尋常的公寓老宅與成排綠蔭之間，一處純白且通透的留白，宛如城市裡一道輕柔的存在，安然地佇立。它沒有急欲張揚的商業招牌，也沒有前衛建築帶來的侵略感，僅以素淨牆面上那抹低調雋永的字樣——unobject，在樹影的流轉間勾勒出自身的簡練輪廓。

Tucked away from the constant stream of traffic along Taipei's Ren'ai Road, the noise begins to soften the moment you turn into the tree-lined lane. Among weathered apartment buildings and rows of dense foliage, a storefront in clean white opens up quietly, almost like a breath of space the city forgot to fill. There is no bold commercial signage competing for attention, no assertive architectural gesture. Just the words "unobject," lettered with quiet permanence on the pale facade, catching the light as the branches above shift and sway.

「unobject」是一處拒絕被單一定義的場域。從街邊望去，汲取「摺紙藝術」概念的設計語彙，在純白與灰階的冷靜基調中，巧妙透過非平整的立面，展開無聲的視覺張力。大面積的落地玻璃將室內景致化作一方通透的櫥窗，刻意收斂起鋒芒，輕輕融入了常民的生活感之中。有時，路過的鄰里會好奇探問這裡的用途；有時，人們會自然而然地在門外的階梯上席地而坐，享受微風與恬靜的午後。它時而封閉如神秘的容器，時而敞開邊界，在城市的縫隙裡，為你我的日常創造出無數次「不預期的相遇」。

"unobject" is a space that resists easy categorization. Seen from the street, its design vocabulary draws on the language of origami: set against a restrained palette of white and grey, the folded, irregular surfaces create a quiet visual tension without ever raising their voice. Floor-to-ceiling glass turns the interior into an open vitrine, yet the overall expression remains deliberately understated, settling naturally into the texture of everyday neighborhood life. Occasionally, passing residents stop to ask what the space is for. Other times, people simply sit down on the front steps, enjoying the breeze on a quiet afternoon. It can feel sealed, like a vessel holding something yet to be revealed, then entirely open and borderless the next moment, carving out room in the gaps of the city for countless unexpected encounters.

為什麼要在這座擁擠的城市，特意營建一處不被定義的空間？unobject 由創辦人 Jeff Lin 與 Jason Lin 於 2023 年創立。取名時嵌在字首的「un」，帶有一種不急於下定論的餘裕。它不是對既有事物的拒斥，反而是對那些尚未定型、缺乏專屬詞彙，甚至還無法被完全解析的種種可能，溫柔地敞開懷抱。

The Unfinished Meaning of "un": A Gentle Awakening from Object to Perception
Why, in a city as dense as Taipei, would anyone set out to build a space that defies definition? unobject was founded in 2023 by Jeff Lin and Jason Lin. The prefix "un" embedded in its name carries a certain unhurried openness, a refusal to arrive at conclusions too quickly. It is not a rejection of what already exists, but rather a gentle embrace of everything still taking shape, still lacking its own vocabulary, still not fully understood.
To us, unobject reads as a vessel that breathes. Stripped of ornament, the space recedes into the background, using only natural light and a pared-back palette to let the work within become the protagonist. This founding impulse stems from a desire to reawaken something latent in people: empathy, and a genuine curiosity toward the essential nature of things.
In the relentless pace of modern life, saturated with information at every turn, efficiency and purpose have become default modes of operating, often at the cost of our capacity to simply perceive. unobject aspires to be a place where people can pause and reopen their senses. More than a platform for showing art, it might be better understood as a clearing in the current of the times, inviting everyone who stops here to look past the surface of things and reach for what is authentic, what is worth holding close.

不設限的有機展演
既然拒絕被定型，unobject 的展出形式自然也不拘一格。它會隨著展覽的型態，改變空間呼吸的節奏。在現階段，空間選擇以「大櫥窗」的姿態面向街道，讓多數觀者站在外側視角，隔著玻璃凝視作品在光影間的流轉。然而，這並非永恆的常態。在接下來的季度裡，當互動性的裝置進駐時，通透的玻璃門將會全面敞開，邀請人們直接走入其中、參與交流。時而收攏如櫥窗、時而完全向街區綻放的展演方式，恰呼應品牌不願被框架、持續流動的有機本質。

Unrestricted Organic Exhibitions
Refusing to be stereotyped, the exhibition formats at unobject naturally defy convention. It alters its breathing rhythm to match the nature of each exhibition. Currently, the space faces the street as a "large vitrine," allowing most observers to gaze from the outside, watching the works transform in the interplay of light and shadow through the glass. However, this is not a permanent state. In the coming seasons, as interactive installations take up residence, the transparent glass doors will fully open, inviting people to walk right in and engage in dialogue. This exhibition style—sometimes folding inward like a display case, sometimes blooming outward to the neighborhood—perfectly echoes the brand's organic, ever-flowing nature that refuses to be boxed in.
Tetra —— 以分子構築的多重宇宙
在這靈活的空間載體內，貫穿一切的核心語彙，是一種名為「Tetra」的原創媒材。它猶如微小分子，以光學壓克力的晶瑩剔透呈現。Tetra 的迷人之處在於它的「開放性」，它可以無限繁衍、自由拼組，可大可小地適應任何維度。

Tetra: A Multiverse Built of Molecules
Within this flexible spatial vessel, the core vocabulary connecting everything is an original medium called "Tetra". Resembling microscopic molecules, it is rendered in crystal-clear optical acrylic. Tetra's charm lies in its "openness"; it can endlessly multiply and be freely assembled, adapting flexibly to any dimension.
Every season, unobject invites different artists, offering Tetra like a seed to be nurtured into myriad forms through human curiosity and imagination about the world.

When handed to different creators, the pure Tetra modules act like a mirror, accurately reflecting distinctly different personalities and internal logics. It flows with the creator's mindset. Sometimes it translates into delicate interlacing and connections, revealing soft, unpredictable, organic forms within its tiny nodes. Examples include the supple, winding "snake" installation from the previous exhibition, and the Gaze Forward, which gathers its power into a static gaze. Or, as seen in the latest exhibition, Incubation, it can possess a rigorous geometric order, presenting a highly formatted and structurally distinct image while conveying profound thoughts and anxieties about humanity's relationship with technological evolution.

《孵化》：虛實交錯間的當代隱喻與科技反思
《孵化》（Incubation）由 unobject 與馬來西亞藝術家 Kaiyi Wong 所共同創作。 Kaiyi 從身邊友人陸續為人父母的生命歷程中獲得啟發，進而開始思索「創造」與「孕育」的本質：在這個時代，我們究竟正在將什麼帶到世界上？
若你駐足仔細端詳這件作品，會發現它由兩種截然不同的物質語彙交織而成。外圍是 Tetra 晶體，但這一次，它們不再是單純的幾何，而是化身為一個龐大精密，甚至帶著些許壓迫感的系統母體，隱喻著日常中透過社群媒體等海量數據，不斷輸入並餵養給「人工智慧」的養分。而在這層層疊疊的理性陣列深處，隱匿著由極薄鋼片彎折而成的「胎體」。它微弱、隱諱，卻又在時間的推移下，沈默地生長著。

Incubation: A Contemporary Metaphor and Technological Reflection Amidst Intertwining Realities
Incubation is a collaborative work by unobject and Malaysian artist Kaiyi Wong. Inspired by friends who were gradually entering parenthood, Kaiyi began to contemplate the essence of "creation" and "nurturing": in this era, what exactly are we bringing into the world?
If you pause to closely examine the piece, you will find it woven from two starkly different material vocabularies. The exterior is composed of Tetra crystals, but this time, they are no longer mere geometry. They have transformed into a massive, precise, and somewhat oppressive system matrix—a metaphor for the nourishment constantly fed to "Artificial Intelligence" through the ocean of data we input daily via social media. Hidden deep within this layered, rational array is a "fetus" formed from bent, ultra-thin steel sheets. Faint and obscure, it continues to grow silently as time passes.

The highly technological and visually striking exterior of the artwork harbors a thought-provoking warning. We are accustomed to seeing ourselves as creators, yet we fail to realize that with every unconscious feeding of data, our innate human ability to perceive is silently degrading. As that seemingly indestructible protective shell built by technology grows ever larger, could those massive mechanisms—which appear to provide us with a sense of security and convenience—simultaneously become an invisible boundary, restricting our instinct to explore the unknown?
Crossing the Boundary: Keeping True Emotion in the Body
True to the original intent behind the name unobject, the space has no intention of providing any black-and-white standard answers to this massive contemporary anxiety. It simply constructs a realm where reality and unreality intertwine, condensing the philosophical observations of these creators into objects you can gaze upon and physically experience—because "what the eyes see will stay in your body".

Stop rushing to capture scenes with a lens, and instead use your truest eyes and intuition to feel the refraction of light through the crystals, and to touch the ripples stirring within your heart.
