As the first light of dawn sweeps across Taichung's Nantun district and spills into its alleys, the city has yet to fully awaken, but the gentle aroma of fermented wheat already drifts through the air. If you happen to be strolling by at this hour, your eyes will naturally be drawn to a quiet corner. A small storefront, painted in an antique sage green, looks exceptionally charming in the daylight, quietly inviting passersby in for brunch to kick off a joyful day.
For those who value the finer details and a refined quality of life, OATGOOD is a living practice of naturally integrating healthy eating into the act of treating oneself well every day. Through dual-sided natural lighting, local design craftsmanship, and a warm material vocabulary, the space offers a slow-living proposition of "freshness in the making" for hurried city mornings. This space is also the physical manifestation of the brand's decade-long devotion to food, harboring the hope that every guest who walks through its doors can effortlessly rediscover life's proper balance during their stay.

From a Home Kitchen to a Physical Space: A Glimpse into the Slow-Living Philosophy of the Oat Fields
The foundation of this refined quality stems from a decade of built trust. Founded in 2015 by nutritionist Angelina, OATGOOD began simply as a small home-kitchen workshop fulfilling orders for family and friends. Later, her sister Chloe joined the team, and together they transitioned the brand to online channels and established a dedicated studio. Along the way, they constantly received feedback from customers longing for a physical store—a place where they could directly feel the warmth of the brand's dedication.
In 2025, this vision finally took root on Xiangxin Road in Taichung.
Stepping into OATGOOD Daily, the first thing you experience is a relaxing, soothing sensation of being wrapped in nature. The design team extended the brand's "oat field" visual color palette into the space, utilizing nature-inspired tones. By blending warm woods with stainless steel, mirrors, and stone, the space maintains an organic ambiance while exuding an understated, elegant modernity.

Within the limited, elongated floor plan, OATGOOD Daily discarded the typical layout—the conventional approach of placing the kitchen at the entrance to facilitate takeout and serving. Instead, to provide visitors with the most relaxing atmosphere possible, they reserved the window area with the best lighting for seating. The recessed spaces on both sides of the entrance create a secure, cocoon-like feeling reminiscent of semi-private booths. Bathed in gentle natural light, this design gracefully compensates for the naturally dim conditions of the old building. Sitting on the window-side sofa, watching the English garden-style plants swaying in the breeze outside—this sense of comfort and healing is precisely the daily proposition OATGOOD wishes to offer its guests.

Basking in the Morning Light, Beside Vintage Furniture and a Transparent Kitchen: Savoring a Quality Dining Experience
As your eyes wander through the space, the focal point that invariably makes you pause is the "Sugar Onion" pendant lamp from Kimu Design hanging above the counter. This piece, deeply rooted in Taiwanese design heritage, uses warm wooden slats to filter out harsh light, casting a soft, diffused glow across the vintage sage green walls—offering distinct visual layers whether turned on or off. This lamp has unexpectedly become the most asked-about item by visitors, beautifully illustrating how OATGOOD balances refinement with natural elements.
Furthermore, the store thoughtfully juxtaposes old and new furniture. Vintage pieces lovingly restored by Taiwanese craftsmen sit alongside modern mint-green round-back chairs, bathed in the same morning light. This pairing weaves a grounded, humanistic memory into the new space.

Following the play of light and shadow further inside, the semi-open, transparent kitchen naturally presents the meal preparation process to guests, making the wait feel as intimate as sitting by one's own dining table. This tangible realization of "freshness" is a direct extension of the brand's philosophy. Today, the physical store has become the perfect home for realizing this ideal, allowing their signature oats, sourdough bread, and croissants to be served to customers in their freshest state. Order a meal developed by nutritionist Angelina, and your senses will be awakened even before your taste buds: the creamy texture as you scoop into the yogurt, the aroma of baking bread, and even the rhythmic sound of fresh-pressed juice. These details ensure that while guests enjoy delicious food, their bodies also experience a comfortable, burden-free purity.

Everyday Healing Hidden in the Details: Experiencing a Gentle Extension of Touch and Scent
OATGOOD’s obsession with detail doesn't stop at the dining table; it extends to easily overlooked corners. In the founders' philosophy, a good meal is not just nutritional replenishment—it is a moment to slow down, feel at ease, and be cared for. Therefore, the washbasin was intentionally moved to an external space, catering more closely to guests' needs before and after meals. They thoughtfully provide fragrances from Sweden's L:a Bruket and the UK's Bamford, and insist on using unbleached, Taiwanese-made small square towels instead of disposable paper towels.
Forgoing convenience in favor of a more elaborate process stems from a deep respect for the environment and an uncompromising pursuit of quality. When visitors feel the warm touch of the fabric after washing their hands, this everyday ritual of cleansing becomes a gentle form of daily healing, allowing both body and mind to find balance during their stay.

An Exhibition of Food and Daily Life: Practicing the Choice for a Good Life
OATGOOD Daily is not a restaurant chasing visual shock value; the founders prefer to define it as an "exhibition space for high-quality food." They plan to follow the rhythm of the seasons, offering seasonal local ingredients—such as incorporating local artisan cheeses or extra virgin olive oil born from volcanic terrains into their meals—to present the most natural state of food through real, unadulterated ingredients.
Moreover, OATGOOD hopes to collaborate with creators from various fields in the future, elevating dining into an exchange of lifestyle attitudes. They even plan to evolve the space into a cozy evening venue offering natural wines and non-alcoholic mocktails, providing more light, balanced choices for everyday life.
The next time you visit Taichung, consider setting aside some time in the morning to drop by. You will discover that a good life is actually quite simple—it resides in that comforting bite of food, that perfectly balanced interplay of light and shadow, and this warm promise: Oatgood, All Good.
